Information on our VOSH involvement
We carry a large selection of contacts, from several different lines including ACUVUE, Bausch & Lomb, CIBA Vision, and many more. If you used to wear contacts in the past, or have never tried them, you should try them now. Contacts come in a wide range of usage patterns, from contacts worn during waking hours and removed before bedtime, to extended-wear contacts that are worn all day, even during sleep.
The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued reports about increased reports of a serious eye fungus among contact lens wearers. Dr. Marks urges contact lens wearers to take the proper precautions to prevent this potentially sight-threatening eye infection.
Dr. Marks says, "Contact lens users should seek proper medical attention immediately if they notice changes to their eyes or vision". In particular, anyone who experiences the following symptoms should contact Dr. Marks immediately:
American Optometric Association's Notice Concerning This Problem
We think you should get a second opinion! Dr. Marks has had special training to handle fitting contacts to people who may have eye conditions that in the past prevented them from wearing contacts. Come in and talk to us before you decide contacts are not an option for you — we may just have a different answer for you.

Myth Contact lenses can get lost behind the eye.
Fact It's not possible for a contact lens to get lost behind the eye. The eye has a protective barrier that would prevent a contact lens from ever being lost behind it.
Myth Teens are too young to wear contact lenses.
Fact Teens usually adapt easily to wearing and caring for contact lenses. In fact, a recent study reported that the average age for teens to start wearing contact lenses is 13 years.
Myth Contact lenses are expensive.
Fact Contact lenses are surprisingly affordable. In fact, you can wear contacts for about the price of a newspaper per day.
Myth People think it may hurt to put in and take out their contact lenses.
Fact This fear, often referred to by professionals as "Pokeaphobia", is understandable, but once you have learned how to properly insert and remove your lenses, you will see it's as easy as putting on and taking off your shoes.
Question Aren't contact lenses uncomfortable, and a hassle to use and take care of?
Answer Not at all. Contact lenses are now made of soft material and keep their own moisture for long-lasting comfort. Advancements in technology have made contact lenses easy to use and convenient.
Question What about contact lenses and my eye health?
Answer Contact lenses must be properly cared for, worn and replaces as instructed. When that is done, contact lenses are a healthy vision correction option. Lenses are medical devices, so it is important to have regular eye health evaluations and vision analysis and to follow the use and care instructions.
Remove your contacts at bedtime
Leaving your daily-wear contacts in over night can often cause oxygen deprivation in your eyes inhibiting their ability to ward off infection. Ask Dr. Marks about alternative options.
Replace your lenses regularly
If you notice buildup on your lenses, irritated eyes, or trouble with your vision, it may be a result of failing to replace your contact lenses at regular intervals. Consult Dr. Marks for instructions on how frequently your type of lenses should be replaced.
Follow the directions
It is recommended that you follow all product usage directions and instructions to avoid damage to your eyes. We strongly suggest that you do not use eye-care or contact lense-care products that are not approved by Dr. Marks and his staff.
What's right for you?
If you feel your contact lenses aren't doing the best that they can, or if you wonder if (or which) contact lenses are right for you, set an appointment with Dr. Marks. He will provide a thorough eye health evaluation, taking into account factors such as your age, lifestyle, and vision needs to determine which lense is most suited to solve your vision deficits.
Get Yearly Eye Health Evaluations
As with other areas of the body, it is wise to have yearly eye health evaluations. In addition to possible early detection of more serious problems, these check-ups can ensure that your lense prescription is still effective to your continually changing eyes. See Dr. Marks today to set up an appointment.
